Description
Description: The special education teacher is responsible for the education of each student assigned to their caseload, and is responsible for ensuring all students with disabilities receive a high quality education aligned with their personal goals both inside the general education classroom and through pull-out instruction. The special education teacher will be responsible for developing and teaching lessons that support each students’ Individualized Education Plan (IEP), as well as completing all necessary paperwork, evaluations, and meetings.
● Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
● Valid Minnesota teaching license required (Tier 1 or Tier 2 will be considered)
● General knowledge of MN history, specifically the Bemidji Area
● General knowledge of environmental education
● Specific knowledge of assigned content area(s) and state assessments
● Specific knowledge of assessment and lesson design
● General knowledge of classroom management across grades K-8
● General knowledge of serving special populations of learners
● Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
● Organizational and technology skills
● Effective oral and written communication skills
● Demonstrates good judgment; approachable and professional; solid problem solving skills; self-motivated; well organized
