Description:  The Special Education Teacher – Evaluator provides educational evaluation and/or classroom observations for comprehensive educational evaluations program for students who may have an educational disability.

Job Summary:

1,  Administers, scores and interprets standardized educational assessment measures according to established standards and with accuracy.
2.  Conducts and completes program specific written psycho-educational evaluations, including educational evaluation or classroom observations in order to determine if a student had an educational disability using the criteria from the Minnesota Department of Education.
3.  Develops and documents, clear, integrated, comprehensive educational formulations and recommendations that are individualized based on evaluation results.
4.  Demonstrates knowledge of learning processes, learning disorders, instructional strategies, and interventions.
5.  Demonstrates knowledge of state special education laws and regulations.
6.  Makes recommendations in accordance with best practices and evidenced based practice models where appropriate and adheres to model and program expectations.
7.  Demonstrates knowledge of referral processes and resources.
8.  Communicates, orally and in writing, in a positive, effective manner with student staff, family, and all internal and external providers as needed.
9.  Functions as a strong and supportive team member who understands and embraces a multi-disciplinary team model.
10.  Attends required meetings.
11.  Adheres to district policies and procedures (e.g., confidentiality, reports child abuse, safety precautions, etc.) and displays excellent work habits (e.g., provides excellent service, attendance and promptness at work and meetings, timeliness in completing work).
Interacts with youth and their families in a manner that is sensitive and relationally-based.
12.  Demonstrates sound judgment and decision-making by maintaining the ability to plan, organize, disseminate information, and analyze and resolve problems.
13.  Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.

Qualifications:

1.  BA/BS degree.
2.  Licensed special education teacher.
3.  Experience working with students with emotional, cognitive, learning, or developmental difficulties is preferred.
4.  Knowledge and familiarity with a variety of educational testing/assessment instruments and administration procedures required.
5.  Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
