POSITION LOCATION: Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC), with placement at the ELC – Cosmos located in Cosmos, MN.
Â
POSITION SUMMARY: The Special Education Teacher identifies, designs, evaluates and provides individual educational instruction and programming for a small caseload of special education students with Paraprofessional support in the classroom. In addition, SWWC provides professional development specific to Setting IV, offers New Teacher Center Coaching, and collaboration with our Due Process Specialist staff.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Â Designs and implements appropriate educational and/or behavioral programs for students to meet specific needs and goals of the students; participates and conducts portions of the evaluations and observations to determine special education eligibility of students placed in the program and conducts periodic assessments to determine educational progress of the students; conducts and/or participates in IEP Meetings for students in the program; performs other duties as assigned.Â

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required. Emotional/Behavior Disorder (E/BD) Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) licensure from MDE is preferred, but not necessary if willing or in the process of getting licensure. Teacher will provide services to students in a self-contained, all day setting, collaborating with paraprofessionals and other member school district staff. Must have good organizational and communication skills.

CONTRACT/SALARY: 185-day contract for 2024-2025 school year. Beginning salary dependent upon education, qualifications and experience. Excellent fringe benefits. Candidates who have not previously served in a Special Education Teacher position within our organization are eligible for a $3,000 signing bonus.Â
