St. Francis Area Schools is located in northern Anoka County and southern Isanti County. We are a rural/suburban district, covering 165 square miles with our early childhood center, three elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one ALC. Our school district annually educates more than 4,500 students and employs more than 750Â staff members.
Qualifications
Valid Minnesota Teaching License in Special Education; a license in the area of Academic Behavioral Strategist (ABS) or Developmental Disabilities is preferred. We are looking for a team-oriented individual that is comfortable and experienced in working with students needing support in most areas of the school day (academics, social emotional, and behavioral).Â
Job Summary
Under the direction of the program supervisor, the special education teacher is responsible for assisting the district in assessing and identifying students with special needs such as learning disabilities, health impairments, developmental cognitive delays or other similar needs according to eligibility criteria. The special education teacher plans for, develops and implements individualized education programs and instruction in academic areas in collaboration with other educational professionals, parents and administrators in designing, modifying and delivering educational services. Summary of Duties
- Provide direct special education services for students who have disabilities
- Work with classroom teachers to facilitate opportunities for students to participate in the mainstream classroom.
- Provide work direction and support to the assigned Educational Assistants.
- Communicate with families regarding students’ educational programming and progress.
- Perform educational assessments of students as required. Â Â
- Ensure that due process requirements are being followed.
- Plan, develop and write individualized learning goals, objectives, learning strategies and behavior management plans for students with special needs and lesson plans for instruction.Â
- Address and perform crisis intervention and behavioral interventions
- Participate and/or facilitate meetings with parents, teachers, administration or other educational professionalsÂ

7:00am-3:00pmÂ
Salary: $48,166 – $89,645 per Teachers Work Agreement
