Description

Waseca Public Schools is seeking special education paraprofessionals to work in their summer programs. This position will support the academic, emotional, vocational and behavioral needs of students with special education needs.

Hartley Elementary & Intermediate School
June 24-25-26-27 | July 8-9-10-11 * 15-16-17-18 * 22-23-24-25
Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs
8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Intermediate School Therapeutic Program
July 8-9-10-11 * 15-16-17-18 * 22-23-24-25
Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs
8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Training and Experience (positions in this class typically require):
AS, AA or the equivalent of 2 years of postsecondary education (60 semester credits) or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. 

Knowledge (position requirements at entry):
Knowledge of:

  • Various disabilities and special needs conditions
  • Tutoring principles
  • Child development principles
  • Behavior management principles 

Skills (position requirements at entry):
Skill in:

  • Tutoring children with various conditions;
  • One-on-one and group supervision;
  • Assisting children and teachers with various activities;
  • Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Physical Requirements: 
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing.
 
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
