Description
Description: The Special Education Paraprofessional is responsible for assisting with special education needs
for students outlined in an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and record keeping/paperwork.
Paraprofessionals work with students of all ages, K-8, and across all subject areas, providing accommodations
and support needed to be successful in school. Job duties may change from day to day, depending on the
needs of the students they work with.
Qualifications:
● AA Degree or at least 60 semester credits at an institution of higher education or ParaPro Certificate
Preferred Skills and Work Experience:
● 3-5 years experience as a paraprofessional or other similar work
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Organizational and technology skills
● Effective oral and written communication skills
● Demonstrates good judgment; approachable and professional; solid problem solving skills, self-motivated; well organized
● Willing to problem solve with students using restorative practices, AWCL behavior model and Code of
Conduct, and team approach
