Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists is a public high school in the heart of downtown St. Paul, unlike any other in the country. SPCPA provides authentic arts training taught by professional artists while also focusing on academic standards. Students spend half of each day in academic programming, and the other in arts. We are in our 20th year of operation and draw students from over 40 different school districts.  We’re seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team for the 2024/2025 school year.

Basic Function of the Position:
The Special Education Paraprofessional’s primary function is to implement assigned tasks during the school year in conjunction with the student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP).  Special Education paraprofessionals perform a variety of instructional activities as directed by a licensed teacher.

Duties & Responsibilities
 

  • Be familiar with the special education needs of each student as noted in the student’s IEP.
  • Be familiar with the goals and objectives of each student as noted in the student's IEP.
  • Provide academic support to special education students in the general education classroom.
  • Keep all student information strictly confidential.
  • Follow assigned daily schedule.
  • Assist in implementation of students’ behavior plans.
  • Assist in implementation of IEP accommodations.
  • Assist individual or small groups of special education students in practicing or reviewing previously learned techniques or strategies.
  • Follow all district procedures and policies for maintaining a healthy and safe environment for students and staff.
  • Follow district standards in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of instructional efforts.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of college credits through an accredited institution of higher education; or
  • An associates degree or higher; or
  • A passing score on an approved, formal paraprofessional assessment demonstrating the knowledge and ability to assist with instruction in reading/language arts, writing and mathematics.
  • Knowledge of basic office equipment preferred

Compensation/Benefits

  • $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, depending upon experience/qualifications
