Special Education Paraprofessional, Temporary Position with Flexible Schedule 
Begins: September 3, 2024 (secondary) or September 5, 2024 (elementary). Training before the first day of work starting August 26, 2024.
Up to 6.5 hrs/day may be flexible,
Flexible day options depending on area of need. 
Starting salary: 
$18.87/hr-$21.19/hr for Resource position
$20.05/hr-$23.19/hr for Center based position

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1.   Qualifications include one of the following: Associates Degree or higher; 60 college semester credits; “Highly qualified” status through completion of ParaEducator or ParaPro exam.  

  • Candidates without one of these qualifications will need to pass the ParaEducator exam within 30 days of hire.

2. Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs).
3. Ability to work with students with mild to severe disabilities.
4. Must employ interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

JOB GOALS: Provide support to the special education staff with educationally related activities and helps students with support in different subject areas: monitors/directs and supports students in other school settings as needed.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Support and monitor students in educational settings.
2. Provide teacher support; objective observation, data keeping, and prepare and organize materials.
3. Assist in implementing successful student programs as designed by special education staff.
4. Assists with personal care needs of individual students, as needed.
5. Demonstrate sensitivity to diversity in cultural heritage, lifestyles, and value systems among students and families.
6. Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal and/or supervising teacher, specific to special education.
