Our Surad teaching team is tasked with leading students through an active learning journey that meets children at their current level and then builds the foundation from which they can soar. Rather than worksheets and textbooks, our students learn from games, experiments, technology, and rigorous intellectual discussion that stimulate their enjoyment while challenging their brains.

Surad Academy is a K-6th grade public charter school, located in Faribault, Minnesota.
Surad Academy’s mission is to prepare students for success by developing the academic and life skills they need to thrive. We do this with our academic and Life Skills curricula, which track student mastery so that everyone gets what they need to thrive. 

The positions begin on August 15 , 2024.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have at least a high school diploma.

  2. Paraprofessional certification is required or must be obtained immediately.

Position Description:

  • Collaborate effectively as a valued member of the special education team.

  • Assist in implementing academic programs developed by special and general education teachers, which involves leading small groups, providing individualized support, reviewing lessons, and ensuring students stay focused.

  • Implement adaptations and accommodations from Individual Education Programs (IEPs) to promote student independence and achievement.

  • Provide valuable input to special education teachers regarding activities, assignments, student engagement, and behavior in general education classes.

  • Foster a positive learning atmosphere while advocating for student needs and ensuring an inclusive environment.

  • Support the development of communication, social, and practical skills tailored to individual student needs.

  • Execute individual student behavior plans, offering positive reinforcement, aiding in self-regulation and de-escalation, and assisting with transitions between classrooms and school environments when necessary.

  • Gather student data as instructed by special education staff to track progress and inform educational strategies.

  • Aid students with mobility issues, including assistance with toileting, lifting, transferring, dressing, and utilizing adaptive equipment.

  • Accompany students during community outings related to school activities.

  • Support students in activities of daily living to promote independence and well-being.

  • Participate in required in-service training sessions.

Background Check Upon Conditional Offer: 

Background checks are conducted upon receiving a conditional offer. Employees must complete a background check. A passing background is required. 

Pay Rate:
Starting at $19-$20 per hour depending on experience
