POSITION OVERVIEW:
This is a full time position as a Spartan Kids’ Care Lead working at Salem Hills Elementary School. The position is a 5 hour shift working from 1-6 pm. The SKC Lead provides leadership for staff and families at a school site for the Spartan Kids Care before and after school program. The Lead assists in maintaining order and discipline while providing a safe and secure environment at all times; provides a positive, concerned and accepting attitude toward children and families; communicates effectively with parents, students and staff; provides a stimulating experience to help the child grow physically, intellectually, emotionally and creatively, according to their individual needs and at their own rate; and, conducts self in a manner that reflects favorably on the program and Community Education. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2040 hours of experience supervising children with at least one-half of related experience serving school-age children preferred.
• BA/BS degree with 2040 hours of experience supervising children preferred.
• 60 hours of relevant training in such areas as:  child development, child guidance, human relations, communications, recreational programming.
• Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
• First aid training.  Training must be completed within 90 days of the beginning date of employment.
• Ability to recognize and react appropriately to potentially dangerous or harmful situations.
• Ability to discriminate between serious from less serious incidents.
• Ability to recognize and determine appropriate actions and reactions to situations based on developmental levels of children. 
• Ability to respond appropriately and professionally in crisis/emergency situations. 
• Ability to apply parameters in a manner that is deemed to be equitable and appropriate.

MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
• Plan, manage and create the flow of activities on site for the Spartan Kids Care program. Create calendars to share activity schedules. 
• Provide support to staff and students for student behaviors and incidences. Assist the specialist and facilitator in setting and upholding the site/programs behavior standards.
• Document and communicate with parents and leadership when student behaviors and injuries occur.
• Lead afternoon snack distribution. Prep snack, manage and record daily snack usage. 
• Provide work direction to paraprofessionals and activity assistants. 
• Assist in orientation of new staff, parents and children to the program.
• Take daily attendance. Connect with the front office, call parents, assign “finders-fee” when children are absent from the program.
• Lead organization of the site for summer and fall.
• Assist with maintenance of student files, supplies, and first aid kits. Create shopping lists of supplies needed. 
• Contact specialists or coordinator as needed for support or regarding questions or decisions.
• Maintain electronic attendance records and tracking systems.
• Attend meetings as requested by the specialists or program coordinator. 
• Participate in district-sponsored training when available and pursue additional training opportunities from associated organizations.  Maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Starting pay range would be $21.09 per hour
