Job Summary:

At Aurora Charter School, we believe our greatest resource is the people who form our team.   The Middle School Spanish Math Teacher (6th-8th Grade)  under the supervision of the principal is responsible for creating a dual-language (English/Spanish) classroom environment that ensures learning and personal growth of every student; motivating students to become bilingual/biliterate leaders, develop critical thinking skills, and become environmental stewards. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain effective environments for students.

  • Understand and organize subject matter for student learning in a way that fosters individual and group investigation.

  • Plan instruction and design differentiated learning experiences for a range of needs and abilities utilizing MN standards. 

  • Use formative and summative assessments of student learning to drive instruction.

  • Collect and analyze student data to improve the school-wide instructional program.

  • Collaborate with Resource Teachers, students, and families to support the academic and social development of students with disabilities and suggest options for improvement.

  • Continually support student behavior with systems for feedback, reflection, and growth.

  • Monitor student progress, maintain student records and portfolios

  • Collaborate with instructional coaches, students, and families to support the academic and social development of students. 

  • Communicate and actively build a strong relationship with students and parents/guardians on a regular basis, including leading parent conferences.

  • Continually support student behavior with systems for feedback, reflection, and growth, as supported by our PBIS, implemented program.  

  • Attend IEP and 504 meetings as required for your students. 

  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities. 

  • Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in school including curriculum nights, and school events. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current MN license in Math or related field, or have the ability to obtain one. 

  • Must be proficient in academic or native Spanish

  • Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment, must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s License or state identification, must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check, and must comply with organizational and district policies.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds.  

  • Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis.

  • Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading
