Description:  Social Worker at VISTA Education Center
This position is for the 2024-2025 school year. 

FTE: 1.0 

Job Summary:  Performs professional work within district multi-tiered system of support through obtaining and analyzing data to determine social-emotional needs of students.  Serves as a liaison/link between students and federal, state and local social and community support programs.  Serves as building homeless liaison. VISTA Education Center has a small caseload of students. Work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Special Services.

Provide basic and comprehensive services to individual students and families which would include:

  1. Assist in diagnosing students’ needs;
  2. Provides crisis intervention and prevention for families and students;
  3. Collaborates with school nurse, community agencies and industry professionals to meet individual student needs;
  4. Conducts interviews to obtain student social history;
  5. Refers students to and serves as a liaison with outside agencies;
  6. Conducts home visits when necessary;
  7. Assist students with social-emotional learning.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from a college or university that is accredited
  • Minnesota Department of Education School Social Worker License
