Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve on Student Support Teams and special education committees
  • Assist in the assessment of students in the Southern Plains Alternative Programs
  • Participate in IEP team meetings
  • Gather relevant data from parents, students, and agencies
  • Provide individual and group counseling as needed
  • Develop and implement training for educators and parents
  • Participate in professional development on current educational trends
  • Support teachers with behavior management strategies
  • Assist in crisis situations
  • Collaborate with the Behavior Interventionist on strategies
  • Create and implement Behavior Intervention Plans
  • Conduct home visits for assessments
  • Collect and analyze classroom behavior data to inform interventions
  • Act as a liaison with community agencies
  • Refer families to appropriate resources

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of effective interventions for mental health issues
  • Familiarity with child labor and Special Education laws
  • Understanding of barriers to educational success
  • Proficiency in behavior management techniques, including PBIS
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with various stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: License as a School Social Worker or working toward licensure as a Mental Health Professional
    Recommended: Licensed as a mental health professional
  • Experience with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504
