School Readiness Program Assistant

 

Department: Cloquet Community Education, ECFE/SR 
Reports to: ECFE/SR Coordinator
General Description: The SR program assistant will be responsible for setup, clean up and maintaining a safe classroom environment for children. Also responsible for implementing all aspects of curriculum as assigned by the SR teacher and/or ECFE/SR coordinator. Must possess a strong ability to interact and communicate with both parents and children. 

Education/Licensure Needed: High School diploma or higher

Job Qualifications: The SR program assistant must have experience working with young children and supervising group activities. Be self-motivated, have organizational skills, have the ability to work alone or in a group. 

Job Duties:

  1. Responsible for following directions of the SR teacher  and assisting where needed.

  2. Responsible for helping with the age appropriate learning environment of the classroom according to the SR teacher request. 

  3. Responsible for room preparation before class and clean up after. 

  4. Keep accurate attendance records.

  5. Responsible for preparing and cleaning up daily snacks.

  6. Responsible for observing and assisting the SR teacher during group time.

  7. Clean and disinfect supplies and toys as needed.

  8. Lead circle time, small groups or games if necessary.

  9. Prepare materials for projects or other activities as directed by the SR teacher.

  10. Interact with students as they arrive, through their learning day and depart.

  11. Set up and clean up all classroom activities as directed by the SR teacher.

  12. Remain current on CPR and first aid.

  13. Responsible for assisting child educators in keeping classroom supplies current and placing needed items on the shopping list.

  14. Attend staff meetings and special events as assigned.

  15. Complete timesheets by posted dates.

  16. Assist in public relations and outreach services as needed.

  17. Follow discipline policy and all district program policies.

  18. Observe confidentiality.

  19. Call coordinator at home if you are unable to work due to illness providing ample time for coordinator to get a sub. 

  20. Perform other duties as assigned by ECFE/SR Coordinator.

 

Working Environment: Work is typically performed in a temperature controlled, inside environment. Outdoor activities may also be required.

Physical Requirements:Lifting and moving of materials or equipment and holding children typical < 50 pounds and the ability to walk 1 mile.

Evaluation: Use of an evaluation tool as decided by the ECFE/SR Coordinator.
