Job Summary:
- Administer routine and minor first aid to students.
- Report statistics of student accidents, illness and immunizations for the school nurse on a manual or automated system.
- Compose and send written notices about health activities and concerns to students and parents as required.
- Initiate and maintain contact with parents by phone as needed to communicate health-related concerns and updates.
- Dispense medication to students as prescribed by the student’s doctor, according to District policy.
- Maintain close communication with the school nurse on proper procedures to be used in dealing with health problems and activities.
- Works closely with teachers, counselors, administrators and parents on the health care needs of students.
- Perform other health service duties as assigned by the nurse.
- Participate in available training in order to meet new technology standards.
- Participate in health-care related training to meet standards and implement protocols.
- Maintains accurate routine records.
- Dedication to providing the highest level of customer service to the school community.
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with students, parents, and school staff members.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Previous work in a school health office setting preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Ability to exercise judgment in dealing with emergencies and special health needs of students.
- Knowledge of data privacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Dedication to providing the highest level of customer service to the school community.
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with students, parents, and school staff members.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work responsibilities.
- Display flexibility and openness to change.
- Ability to initiate tasks based on situational needs.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing staff development and dedication to continuous professional growth.
- Visual ability to read handwritten or typed documents, and the display screen of various office equipment and machines.
- LPN or RN Certification preferred, but not required.
Building/Site: Orono Schumann Elementary School
Salary/Wage: starting at $18.89
Certification Differential: RN + $2.50/hour
LPN + $1.50/hour
Schedule: 6.5 hours/day 178 days/year (student days)
Bargaining Group and Level: ESP Responsibility Level III
