Job Purpose Summary: To assist in operating and maintaining the school nutrition program.

Responsibilities

  • Adhering to all food safety guidelines and health department regulations.

  • Assist in receiving food items and/or supplies and places them in designated areas utilizing temperature requirements and food spoilage guidelines.

  • Assist in preparing and cooking meal items  according to standardized recipes and food preparation procedures and ensuring that nutritional and meal requirements are met.

  • Operate dishwashing machine as needed

  • Maintains cleanliness of equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary and organized condition.

  • Ensure and maintain cleanliness of serving counters, salad bar, and milk coolers.

  • Engages students to select and consume healthy foods with minimum waste.

  • Ensures that all production records are accurately completed on a daily basis.

  • Arrange food and beverage items for the purpose of serving them to students and staff in an efficient manner.

  • Efficiently serve correct food portions to meet all USDA school meal pattern requirements.

  • Assist in the monitoring, and managing food waste.

  • Maintain inventory of eating & serving supplies and communicate needs to the Manager.

  • Accurately record temperatures of milk coolers, foods, and calibrated thermometers. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and District Manager.

  • Ability to work rapidly and efficiently in performing job duties.

  • Ability to work with little or no supervision.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Food Service District Manager.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • ServSafe Certified

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the foodservice industry

  • Exceptional customer service & interpersonal skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Superior communication skills
