Saint Paul Public Schools is accepting applications for the School Counselor Pool for openings in the 2024-2025 school year. Join a vibrant group of urban school counselors who are focused on equity, academic achievement, social emotional learning, career & college readiness and alignment with the ASCA National Model. A Minnesota K-12 School Counseling License is required before you can start.
The Human Resource Department will review your qualifications and may contact you for an interview. Applicants who are interviewed and recommended as a teacher candidate may be considered for vacancies throughout the district as they occur.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: A valid teaching license in School Counseling K-12 issued by the Minnesota Department of Education.

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with school staff.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of representatives in public and private organizations who partner with schools to support student academic, personal/social and career needs.
Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
Technology skills that support student success and data driven programming.
Knowledge of the reporting procedures relative to the maltreatment of minors
Knowledge of the roles & services offered by support agencies
Responsibilities
Licensed School Counselors are uniquely qualified to address all students¿ academic, career and social/emotional development needs by designing, implementing, evaluating and enhancing a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes and enhances student success. SPPS School Counselors work to align their programs with the American School Counselor Association National Model.

assisting in creating multi-tiered systems of support for ALL students
empowering and supporting families and staff
defining, managing, and assessing activities
providing professional development to staff, including mental health, suicide prevention, college & career readiness

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
This is a 10 month position working 20-40 hours per week.
Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Teacher negotiated labor agreement. The labor agreement and salary schedule can be found at https://www.spps.org/Page/33566.
Benefits are available to new employees after 30 days of active employment. Transcript – Unofficial transcripts are accepted at the time of hire. You must submit official transcripts within 30 days of your start date. Formal credential evaluation is required for post-secondary education completed outside of the United States.
Veteran’s Preference – If you are an eligible veteran applying for a job where veteran’s preference applies and wish to claim Veterans Preference you must submit a legible copy of your DD214 to the Human Resource Department with your employment application. If your claim is approved, five or ten additional points will be added to your final passing score.
Criminal Background Investigation and Reference Checks – Reference checks and a criminal background investigation will be completed as a condition of hire for all new employees and for former employees who have not been employed by the District for more than six months.
