Job Description: 

Partnership Academy, a Pre-K-8 Public Charter School, is seeking a qualified, motivated school social worker or school counselor to provide social/emotional and mental health support and interventions to meet the specific needs of at-risk-students and families.  The main function of the role is individual and small group counseling to support emotional wellness.

 

The social worker/counselor must have a strong work ethic, proven leadership and organizational abilities, understanding of mental health, and trauma. An ideal candidate would have the attributes 

He/she must have experience with and specific knowledge of Pre-K-8 student development, social and emotional adaptive functioning and effective behavior management.

Partnership Academy requires its teaching staff to constantly improve their instruction in ways that directly impact students’ academic, linguistic, social, and emotional growth.

 

Qualifications and Competencies:            

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling

  • Current MDE licensure in School Social Work or School Counseling

  • Experience in child development, behavior, and Response to Intervention experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with individual and  group counseling

  • Knowledge of a variety of clinical and counseling treatments, for use with children and their families.

  • Culturally competent; experience working with Latino families and children preferred.

  • Must be able to work in team decision-making situations.

  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must possess ability to coordinate with others and lead teams when necessary.

  • Knowledgeable in supporting and implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (Tier 1, 2 & 3).  

  • Spanish speaker preferred

 

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Provides individual and group counseling or social skills work

  • Assists grade-level teams in problem-solving and creating plans for positive, pro-social skills teaching; Coaches educators in best practices

  • Consults with education staff relative to appropriate interventions, techniques, and modifications for students in need.

  • Assists with early identification, pre-referral interventions and referrals to special education.

  • Serves as a team member for the school pre-referral/student assistance team.

  • Provides crisis intervention and support as appropriate.

  • Provide a comprehensive approach to mental health that includes evaluation, data collection, interventions and regular monitoring to produce socially significant improvement in children’s mental health and social emotional wellness.

  • Develops and implements Highschool Readiness programming, and support in high school transitional support.
