Position: School Age Care Summer Camp Support Paraprofessional  Grades K-4

Job Summary:  To assist SAC Site Supervisors in providing a safe, enriching and enjoyable SAC Summer Camp experience under the direction of the Program Coordinator and the Program Managers. 

Terms of employment include: Positions start Friday, June 9, 2023 and run through Friday, August 18, 2023, Monday-Friday. Friday, June 9th, hours TBD. Monday and Tuesday June 12th and 13th, all positions will work 8 am-5 pm but no more than eight hours a day. No more than one week (5 days) of time off will be granted unless special conditions apply. Actual hours may vary according to enrollment. SAC will be closed Monday and Tuesday, July 3rd and July 4th, 2023.

Line of Authority: School Age Care Coordinator and Program Managers

Wage:  Salary range is $15.92-17.52 per hour per the 2021-2023 salary schedule for Support Paraprofessional positions. All positions are temporary and do not exceed 66 days of employment.

Available Shifts:

  • Mondays-Fridays – 6:15 am-2:45 pm, Site Opener, Float and Breaker
  • Mondays-Fridays – 6:30 am-12:00 pm, 2 positions, AM age groups
  • Mondays-Fridays – 7:00 am-12:30 pm 5 positions: AM age groups
  • Mondays-Fridays – 11:30 am-5:00 pm, 3 positions, PM age groups
  • Mondays-Fridays – 11:30 am-6:00 pm, 2 positions, PM age groups
  • Mondays-Fridays – 12:00-5:30 pm, 2 positions, PM age groups
  • Mondays-Fridays – 9:00 am-4:30 pm, 1 position, float/breaker
  • Fieldtrip hours could vary.
  • On site paid prep time may be available upon request

Postition Requirements Include:

  • Assist in the implementation and preparation of curriculum and enrichment activities for students.
  • Ability to actively supervise and participate with all children in all activities; supervise during field trips, indoor and outdoor play. Intervene as necessary.
  • Assist in guiding children‚Äôs behavior using a positive and consistent style. Log behavior when appropriate.
  • Maintain a supportive, safe environment.
  • Engage, facilitate, and demonstrate positive relationships among youth and staff.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Help with the bike fleet.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement emergency procedures.
  • Enforce social distancing when required.
  • Enforce children to wear masks when required.
  • Enforce proper hand washing and sanitizing.¬†
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are sanitized routinely.¬†
  • Must be CPR, AED, First Aid, CPI, and Mandated Reporting certified.
  • Other duties as assigned by the site supervisor, program managers, and program coordinator.¬†

Education/Certification/Licensure Requirement:  Experience working with children in group situations, good communication skills, high degree of flexibility. Experience working with children of diverse economic, social and cultural backgrounds

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices, and Software Required:

  • Operate computer, printer, photocopy machine, fax machine, iPad and other electronic or technological equipment required for the specific position.
  • Proficient in various software systems; Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Meets, Word, and Excel.
  • Proficient in phone systems

 Physical Job Requirements:   Physically capable of meeting all performance responsibilities required with caring for children

  • Frequent standing, walking, swimming, lifting waist to chest; lifting below waist; carrying, stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting/pivoting, reaching, simple grasp, firm grasp, fine manipulation; feeling, talking, hearing & visual accommodation.¬† Exposure to weather, daily, when supervising children outdoors, and the ability to walk two (2) miles on uneven terrain.
  • Occasional sitting, pushing, pulling, climbing, and crawling.¬†
  • Energy to accomplish numerous tasks and processes.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Engage with children on the floor in play areas.
  • Extended periods of standing when teaching or leading an activity.
  • Extended periods of sitting during meetings or deskwork.
  • Bending, stooping or sitting on the floor to perform classroom activities or to provide one-to-one assistance.
  • Repetitive motion keyboarding activities.
  • Ability to travel between buildings, within the buildings and work area.
  • Wearing a face mask to protect the spread of COVID may be required.

Mental Job Requirements:

  • Position includes the need to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents or members of the community.
  • Position requires the ability to work with interruptions, handle multiple tasks and organize and prioritize work assignments.
  • Position requires conflict resolution skills in dealing with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Position requires prioritizing work duties, organizing and taking initiative to explore new activities and ideas to enhance student learning

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed in a classroom environment, which typically includes moderate noise from students.
  • Work is often performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions as well
