Special Education Program Supervisor – 18-21 Transistion Program

Summary:
This position requires leadership in developing vision, implementation, and planning for sustainability of our Setting IV 18-21 year old transition program for students with special education needs.  The position also requires effective collaboration with other administrators.  The Special Education Supervisor plans, organizes and manages the programming and services provided at our transition program.  The position includes supervising and supporting the licensed staff and unlicensed staff at all identified locations.
 

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Manage and supervise staff including recruiting, screening, interviewing and hiring staff

  2. Monitor due process procedures, program entrance and exit decisions

  3. Evaluate program effectiveness as well as receiving necessary changes to promote effective programs for the target population including: program design and philosophy; curriculum and instructional methodology; material and technical resources; staff development activities; program evaluations; and interagency activities.

  4. Complete performance appraisals of licensed and unlicensed staff

  5. Collect and maintain information necessary for the completion of local, state and federal reports 

  6. Collect and maintain information necessary to determine staffing needs

  7. Provide leadership and direction to staff with regard to conflicts between staff, parents, students and agency workers.

  8. Direct disciplinary action to ensure a safe school environment and guard due process rights of students

  9. Monitor budget expenditures for assigned programs

  10. Oversee special education transportation requests and program changes for students with disabilities

  11. Promote internal and external awareness of program services

  12. Effectively work with district and building personnel to develop and implement strategies to achieve student and building goals.

  13. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services

 

Required Qualifications:

  1. Current Minnesota Special Education teaching license and Director of Special Education Administrative License

  2. Master’s Degree

  3. Minimum of 5 years experience working with students with disabilities

  4. Supervisory experience

  5. Knowledgeable of MN and Federal laws related to Special Education Due Process

  6. Experience with conflict resolution

  7. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written format

  2. Ability to collaborate with other agencies and business partners

  3. Knowledgeable of technology related to instruction

 

Work Environment:
ISD 622 is a community collaborative dedicated to educating and empowering all learners to excel in our changing world. As a Purchasing Coordinator in our learning environment, the individual will primarily work indoors in an office environment.  An incumbent in this position must follow all ISD 622 safety procedures including wearing required personal protective equipment as required in these circumstances.
