Description:
The Program Staff Lifeguard ensures patron safety and protect lives, including their own. The most important duty the lifeguard has in meeting that responsibility is patron surveillance, keeping a close watch over people in the facility.

Job Summary:

  •  Maintain continuous surveillance of people in swimming pools
  •  Ensure appropriate headcount of people involved in a watersport on an hourly basis
  •  Call out warnings to people who may have ventured too far or are in imminent danger
  •  Provide safety information to people prior to them indulging in a water sport
  •  Supervise swimmers to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocols
  •  Spot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents
  •  Control and report unruly behavior and evict individuals not adhering to behavior protocols
  •  Perform rescues in the event of drowning or swimming accidents
  •  Perform first aid and CPR according to the demands of adverse situations
  •  Teach swimming techniques and safety education to new swimmers
  •  Check safety of equipment and perform needed maintenance

Qualifications:

  • 15 years of age or older
  •  Comfort in water
  •  Desire to work with kids
  •  Ability to do basic skills in water
  •  Holds current certification in Lifeguard Training by a nationally recognized training organization.
  • Concussion training required (provided by employer), CPR/ AED and First Aid training recommended.

Schedule:

  • School-year: 4-8 hours per week
  • Summer: 20-25 hours per week
