About Oak Hill Montessori Community School

Building on a rich, 60-year legacy, Oak Hill Montessori transitioned to a Public Charter School in 2021 to increase accessibility of an authentic Montessori education. Oak Hill Montessori Community School (OHMCS) is proud to provide a unique point-of-view in education driven by the intrinsic motivation of students. We offer challenging academics while equally valuing social and emotional learning.

We serve children 16 months through 8th grade with our lower school being tuition based, and upper school being tuition-free.

General Summary of Position

This is a part-time, hourly non-exempt position, Monday-Friday, throughout the 10-month school year, with the potential option of summer hours. The activity coordinator’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop a long term plan for the Children’s House after school program

  • Plan, organize, implement, and coordinate the Children’s House after school activities program

  • Ensure students’ learning experience is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and instructional goals of Oak Hill, and meets all laws, codes, and regulations

  • Ensures compliance with all State and federal mandates for early childhood programs and child care

  • Monitor instructional areas to ensure that the facilities that support instruction are attractive, organized, functional, and safe. 

  • Conducts consistent and regular program evaluation to ensure services are meeting the needs of students and families, and to determine recommendations for new programs and modifications to existing programs.

  • Maintains positive, collaborative attitude with lower school staff members

  • Seeks out opportunities to learn about the Montessori philosophy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or working towards, in early childhood education, psychology, art, music, or related field

  • Prior successful leadership experience

  • Strong knowledge of early years learning and development

  • Experience in a Montessori school environment

  • Strong passion for working with children

  • High level of enthusiasm for creating, implementing, and managing activities programming for children

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to meet Rule 3 Teacher standards

  • Experience working with children

  • Experience leading a team in a camp, education, childcare, or equivalent setting 

Salary & Benefits: Commensurate with other charter schools of similar scope and size. Hourly wage starting at $23.00/hour.
