Practical Assessment Exploration System (PAES) Lab Paraprofessional

Position Overview:

Pine Island School District is excited to announce an opening for a Practical Assessment Exploration System (PAES Lab) Paraprofessional. This hands-on, career exploration lab is designed to provide students with practical experience in various career fields, including Business/Marketing, Computer/Technology, Construction/Industrial, Processing/Production, and Consumer/Service.

The PAES Lab Paraprofessional will be responsible for the daily operation of the lab, including task assignment, student supervision, and maintaining a professional work environment. The lab will operate three 90-minute sessions each day, and the paraprofessional will have a designated 90-minute preparation period for setting up the lab for the following day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of the PAES Lab, including assigning tasks, monitoring student performance, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures.

  • Student Guidance: Providing feedback on work quality, speed, professionalism, and problem-solving skills as you support student independence.

  • Record Keeping: Document student performance and progress, maintaining accurate records for assessment and reporting purposes.

  • Professional Environment: Foster a positive and professional work environment, modeling appropriate behavior and communication for students.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers and other staff to support students’ career exploration and development, and address any issues that arise.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or higher preferred.

  • Experience working with students in an educational or vocational setting is desirable.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks, solve problems, and maintain a professional environment.
