Brief Job Description:
The Play Director works with students to give them an opportunity to experience and develop their interests and skills in the various aspects of dramatic production. This program permits those with unique talents to develop those talents, and Play Director has responsibility for the overall practical and creative interpretation of a dramatic script, taking into account budgetary and physical aspects of a production. The Play Director is involved in all stages of the process, from design and pre-production stages to rehearsal and final performances.
Mininmum Qualifications:
- Past experience with theater and/or actual involvement in theatrical produtions.
- Knowledge of all aspects of a theatrical program.
- Knowledge of methods for teaching and acting and the theater process.
- Ability to motivate teenagers and gain their respect.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- ?Direct and coordinate a production.
- Provide student instruction and workshops in theater.
- Recruit students to join theater.
- Hold regular meetings, auditions, and rehearsals. Cast the production.
- Responsible for set design, props, costumes, construction, and painting. Stage manager for performances.
- Coordinate sound and lighting for performances.
- Advertise for performances.
- Communicate with parents, staff, and administration on schedule, rehearsals, and use of facilities.
