Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject manner.
  • Works as part of a team to create lesson plans, teach students, evaluate student progress and create action plans for students who need extra attention in specific areas of study.
  • Evaluates academic and social growth of students, analyzes data, prepares report cards.
  • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Develops a multi-cultural learning environment for all students that emphasizes a respect for diversity.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Must be flexible and willing to help in different roles at the school to meet various school needs, including being part of different school committees
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders as necessary to ensure purposeful implementation of the school’s academic model and provide student enrichment opportunities that enhance academic achievement and cultural competency.
  • Establish positive working relationships with students, staff, families, and community resources.

    SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree: degree in the field of physical education preferred
  • Currently holds or demonstrate willingness to gain certification for Physical Education for elementary students in the State of Minnesota.
  • French fluency at a native or near native level
  • Must support the school’s mission, philosophies and goals
  • Experience with elementary aged students
  • Excellent organizational, planning and implementation skills
  • Proven ability to demonstrate effective communication, professional standards and ethical behavior
  • Ability to work effectively with school administration and school colleagues to ensure school culture and student achievement
  • Must pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting
  • Have knowledge of best practices, instructional strategies, classroom management and behavior management
  • Demonstrate respect for children, colleagues, parents and school leadership.
  • Job Type: 0.5 FTE (part-time)

    Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year experience minimum
  • Education:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent (Required)
  • License:

  • Physical Education in the State of Minnesota (Preferred)
