Purpose:Â Â The Personalized Learning (PL) Coach is charged with furthering the implementation of the Robbinsdale Area Schools Unified District Vision along with our Graduation Plan. This new position aligns with UDV Goals #1 and #3: Implement Policies and Practices that Open Pathways to Academic Excellence for All Students and Utilize Culturally Responsive Teaching and Personalized Learning for All Students.
The PL Coach will support students placed for care and treatment due to mental health diagnoses and/or substance use disorders. The PL Coach will assist in analyzing data to be intentional in the work with students. To increase student academic success, this position will also include personalized interventions for students which include academic, behavior and social/emotional support.
Overall duties will include coordinating with families and home schools regarding academic goal setting; graduation planning, processing with students how behaviors and patterns of learning will impact future decisions; and working with families to provide support and additional resources as needed for their child’s success.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work with students on academic goal setting and graduation planning.
- Support communication and build positive relationships with students, teachers, and program staff.
- Monitor progress and collect data on student goals
- Collaborate with program staff to implement effective positive behavioral management strategies, as well as conflict mediation and de-escalation strategies.
- Support student success in the classroom both academically and behaviorally.
- Facilitate and support the implementation of MTSS and Safe & Civil Schools.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred
- Understanding of or experience with substance use disorders and their impact on learning
- Experience working with adolescents
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to deliver positive behavior intervention and support
- Effective communication and human relations skills
- Knowledge and skills in group facilitation
