POSITIONS AVAILABLE  

Part-time Cleaner
School of Engineering and Arts
3:30 – 9:30 pm, Monday through Friday. 
6 hours per shift plus 30 minute unpaid lunch
52 weeks per year
Category VII, $18.02 to $20.37 per hour based on the current salary schedule, plus benefits

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports to the head day/night custodian, facilities Program Director and Director of Buildings and Grounds.
  • Maintains cleanliness of assigned area utilizing the proper equipment and supplies for each task.
  • Sets up rooms for conferences, classes and special events.
  • Provides proper care and cleaning of equipment, tools and the work place.
  • Complies with established timelines and quality completion of tasks.
  • Uses work time efficiently and effectively.
  • Practices fiscal responsibility related to methods, supplies, equipment, recycling, utilities and the environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Sufficient reading skills to read material data sheets.
  • Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of cleaning products, procedures and equipment preferred.
  • Work alone in situations using ladders of various lengths, equipment and chemicals, which can be hazardous when not properly handled, and on rooftops.
  • Assist in loading and unloading of delivery vehicles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and move tables, desk and chairs weighing up to 40 pounds not in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to lift cartons, boxes and buckets weighing up to 30 pounds not in excess of 50 pounds.
  • Routinely operate vacuum equipment of backpack type and push/pull type on floors, walls, and furniture involving twisting, turning, pushing and pulling.
  • Routinely utilize floor care mop equipment.
  • Routinely operate walk behind and self-propelled custodial floor care equipment.
  • Routinely scrub floors and stairs.
  • Routinely apply finish to floor systems.
  • Routinely use chemicals in a safe manner per manufactures recommendations.
  • Occasionally assess and perform inspections in a stooped position in HVAC equipment, equipment rooms, and building tunnels.
  • Occasionally climb stairs.
  • Occasionally work alone on ladders of various lengths up to 20 feet, on lifts or scaffold up to 20 feet.
  • Occasionally assess rooftops.
  • Clean site from snow and ice using shovels, snow throwers or other equipment provided by the district.
