Description

The Fergus Falls School District is seeking to fill a part-time registered nurse position to provide services to the nonpublic schools (Hillcrest Lutheran Academy & Our Lady of Victory School) located within the Fergus Falls School District.

This RN position will begin at the start of the 2024-25 school year and will work for approximately 20-25 hours/week during the school year. This is an hourly paid position.

Qualifications:
1. Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Minnesota and holds an unrestricted license.
2. Certified in CPR or BLS (or obtain in the first 6 months).
3. Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with students, parents, administrators, other school personnel, maintaining a high level of confidentiality

Job Goals:
1. Provides preventive health services to facilitate the student’s optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development.
2. Supports the education process by working to assure the health of the students.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to students, to include:  administer prescribed medication and treatments in accordance with nursing standards; provide counsel to students related to medications and treatments administered; take vital signs as needed.
  • Performs necessary first aide duties based on techniques and training; implement procedures within ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines; use training skills to recognize problems; recommend solutions in accordance with guidelines under RN licensing, the Licensed School Nurse (LSN) and school protocol.
  • Provides health assessments, develops and implements emergency care plans and individualized health plans as appropriate. Instructs school staff on management of specific students and health concerns.
  • Maintains, evaluates and interprets cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of students
  • Coordinates school and community health activities and serves as a liaison health professional between the home, school and community.
  • Completes record keeping related to  immunizations, annual immunization status report, incident reports, infectious disease reporting, Early Childhood Screening results, medication administration records, specialized health tasks, health office daily logs and screening results. Record keeping includes documentation in the student data system.
  • Participates in screening programs for growth, vision and hearing, etc.  This includes preparation of materials, re-screening, referral and follow-up.
  • Maintains nonpublic health services supply inventory for each nonpublic school, orders health supplies and maintains a log for supplies used.
  • Other duties as assigned
