East Grand Forks School District is seeking applicants for a Part Time Kitchen Helper.Â
East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 8,500 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district’s K-12 enrollment is approximately 1950 students as well as a thriving preschool program. The district has four separate school buildings housing grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.
Terms:
- Salary: $17.21/hour
- Benefits:Â The food service benefits package includes contributions toward health, dental, and life insurance plans, with the district covering a portion of the premiums. Eligible food service workers may participate in the district’s Group Insurance Plans, which includes the following contributions:
- Health Insurance: Up to $955.00 per month
- Dental Insurance: $101.00 per month
- Life Insurance: $23.08 per month
Additional benefits include access to bereavement leave, jury duty leave, military leave, and a 403(b) retirement savings plan, with the district matching contributions after three years of employment.
Full-time food service employees are defined as those working a minimum of 30 hours per week. Sick leave accrues at the rate of one day per month of service with the school district.
Benefits for part-time employees working less than 30 hours per week may be prorated accordingly.

This is a 9 Month Position
Hours will be from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM on days when school is in session
Qualifications:
Willingness to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other district staff, students, and members of the public.
Reporting Relationship:
The Kitchen Helper reports directly to the Nutrition Services Manager
Basic Function of the Position:
The kitchen helper is responsible to assist in preparing, cooking, baking and serving a variety of foods, in large quantities,
while demonstrating proper food safety and effective sanitation practices in a school kitchen environment.
Job Description:
Assist the head cook in all aspects of school meal districution inluding but not limited to preparing and serving school meals, as well as clean up.
Ensures proper safety, sanitation and food service preparation practices are followed and that food is prepared in a timely manner.
Attend all district-wide food service meetings.
