Special Education Paraprofessional – Delano Public Schools – Delano Elementary

Delano Elementary is looking for patient, caring, supportive persons who can assist teachers in managing/monitoring student behaviors and provide assistance with academic work completion as well as functional skills.

Job Summary: The paraprofessional will support students with disabilities which may include academic, social, behavioral, and functional needs. The paraprofessional may work in mainstream classrooms or special education classrooms under the direction of licensed special education teachers. Additional duties may include supporting extracurricular activities or bus routes. On rare occasions this assignment may entail work in evenings or weekends. The paraprofessional will utilize their skills daily for the purposes of data collection and communication to support the needs of students.

Hours: 7:50am-2:50pm (6.5 hours per day on all student contact days), 30 minute unpaid lunch. Opportunities exist for paraprofessionals to assist with SPED transportation and/or extra-curricular activities.

Requirements: Associate Degree / equivalent or prior designation as a highly qualified paraprofessional. Alternatives to achieve highly qualified status are available.  Experience with special education or people with disabilities is preferred. Necessary training is provided.

Salary Information: $19.50 – $20.78/hour (rates are subject to change pending the ratification of an updated contract)
