JOB SUMMARY: To assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefits for students. Be dedicated to youth and the community with a strong belief that every student can succeed.
ASSIGNMENT: Non-Certified
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff.

Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises curriculum-based testing and makeup work as assigned by certified staff.

Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular certified staff.

Alerts staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.

Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, play periods, and field trips.

Performs assigned non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack time, toileting, and clothing routines.

Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school environment and community.

Motivates students to develop skills in assigned subject matters while supporting appropriate conduct, speech and attire, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Participates in meetings, in-service training programs, and workshops as required.

Assists the teacher in setting up and tearing down classrooms before and after special events.

Assume responsibility for monitoring student behavior. This includes guiding student behavior consistent with school rules to ensure student safety, administering appropriate consequences in response to unacceptable behavior, encouraging peaceful resolution of conflicts, and reporting unacceptable behavior to the principal/dean of students, as needed.

Assist with preparation of materials for instruction, including copying materials and construction of display/bulletin boards.

Performs other such duties as may be required by the school system, principal and or designee.

Knowledge of Google, Microsoft and Skyward software a plus.

Supervision of Other Employees:

This position is not responsible for supervision of other District employees.
Working Environment:

Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
-
High School diploma or equivalent required.
-
Ability to successfully pass the paraprofessional proficiency exam within 3 months of hire.
Experience:
-
Not required, but prefer 1-2 years of experience working with diverse students in a curriculum support or tutoring capacity.
