Description
This position assists with the implementation of supplemental academic and enrichment activities for students in after school programming., by Instructing students , assisting academic or program staff by working with individual students or small groups and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the community schools site coordinator.

Qualifications: Associates Degree or 60 credits undergraduate level; Experience working as an educational or teacher’s assistant, paraprofessional, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Or a passing ParaPro exam (This may be completed 30 days after hire). ParaPro exam information can be found on the district website. Â
Pay: $19.00/hour year 1, $21.00/hour year 2
Dates: The position will run September 16, 2024 through May 23, 2025
Hours:Â Hours will vary depending on employee’s BCCS assignments, but will be within 1:45 to 4:30 at BCE and 3:15 to 6:00 at BCS, Mondays through Thursdays.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists and tutors students with disabilities with instructional and non-instructional activities including academic work, enrichment activities, toileting, feeding, dressing, mobility, etc.
Establishes positive relationships with students and acts as a role model for appropriate social skills and behaviors in all situations.Â
Adapts after school program activities, assignments and/or materials for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing activity objectives with the student’s disability and needs in mind .
Helps academic instructors, program staff, and community partners support student behavior by applying proactive strategies.Â
Assumes safety responsibilities for students in all environments.Â
Reviews student Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs).Â
Reinforces instruction through individual or small group activities; keeps students focused on tasks assigned by staff.
Oversees and supervises students throughout the program, including field trips, program events, boarding and unboarding buses, meal and snack periods, recess and other settings where staff may not be present; chaperones students to and from activities.
Assists students with learning organizational and computer literacy skills.
Maintains service logs and records on students.
Prepareslesson and activity materials
Observes students’ performance and records relevant data to assess progress.
Supports students with disabilities in using assigned assistive devices, supportive technology and assistance accessing facilities.
Organizes and supervises games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental and social development.
Attend staff meetings
Collaborates with Community Schools Site Coordinator, OST Lead staff, and students school IEP team as needed regarding student needs.
Supports data collection for after school program grant funding requirements
Other duties as assigned.
