Position Summary:
Performs intermediate technical work preparing food, maintaining food preparation and usage records, ordering and maintaining food levels, accepting and processing food payments and deliveries, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Assistant Director of Nutrition Services and Building Principal. Departmental oversight is exercised over all personnel within the department
Essential Functions:
Coordinates, monitors, oversees and participates as required in the work of other employees engaged in the preparation, cooking and serving of food
Ensures that foodstuffs are cooked in quantities according to menus, good dietary principles and number of persons served
Prepares and maintains menu, special diet meals and other various records
Inspects kitchen equipment, storeroom, foods and employees to maintain proper sanitation and operation
Instructs and trains other employees in the operation of equipment and utensils, and in the preparation, cooking and serving of food in accordance with good dietary principles and food service methodology
Oversees and coordinates the cleaning and maintenance of culinary utensils, equipment and working areas
Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements and policies
Keeps accurate records of temperatures, staff scheduling, online payments, inventory, cash payments, lunch counts and milk usage
Completes food orders online from vendors and district warehouse
Tracks and approves timesheets
Orders and receives materials and supplies for food preparation and clean up
Prepares and maintains material safety data sheets
Prepares the kitchen, equipment and supplies for end of year closing or summer maintenance
Provides customer service to students, staff, parents, extended day, visitors and the general public
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and /or Experience:
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience working in a food service role
Special Requirements:
School Nutrition Association Level IV Certification, must be obtained within one (1) year of hire
MN Certified Food Protection Manager required within six (6) months of hire
