Position Summary:
Â
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Community Education, the School Readiness Teacher is responsible for positively interacting, building relationships, and educating diverse students ages 3-5 years old. The School Readiness Teacher will plan and implement all educational aspects of the classroom, including incorporating approved curriculums. Create and implement daily programming of activities to support the pursuit of lifelong learning that will enhance the social-emotional, educational, recreational, health, and well-being of the whole child. The School Readiness Teacher will collaborate and support all areas of Early Learning for Proctor Public Schools and Hermantown Community Schools through teamwork, innovation, and a passion for driving education for our youngest learners forward.

Programming supervision is exercised over classroom program assistants and classroom aides in partnership with the Assistant Director of Community Education.

Qualifications:Â
Â
B.A. or B.S. Degree with a current license in Early Childhood.
Experience developing learning experiences with lesson plans that align with the MN Early Learning Indicators of Progress.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in using technology resources in the classroom to enhance teaching, provide data analysis, and communicate with parents.
Ability to pass an MN background check.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Â
Utilize approved curriculum within the classroom, develop lesson plans, analyze student data, and adjust teaching strategies as needed to prepare successful learners.
Develop developmentally appropriate learning experiences with lesson plans that align with the MN Early Learning Indicators of Progress in each skill and concept area.
Facilitate student’s positive educational experience by maintaining ongoing awareness of individual educational goals and ways to support them. This may include individual special needs and comforting routines.Â
Anticipates and responds to the changing needs of students in the class, conducts pre and post-assessments, researches, and provides best practices.
Take time to build a positive relationship with each student and the parent(s) or caregiver(s) of the student.
Maintain effective relationships with families and school personnel through open and positive communication, including participating in open house and conferences.Â
Direct and monitor overall classroom management, including classroom support staff.
Manage classroom environment so children are always safe and Minnesota Department of Education student/staff ratios are maintained.
Arrange field trips and special events including transportation and permission slips.
Maintain strict confidentiality according to program and district(s) policy.
Immediately and directly communicate needs, problems, and inter-staff issues to the Assistant Director of Community Education.
Attend staff meetings and professional workshops.
Participate in the planning of special events related to serving children 0-5 years old and actively participate in the event(s). Examples include Fall Fest and Transportation Night.
Arrange for your substitute and inform the Director of Early Learning and the collaborating teacher when you will be absent.
Adhere to ISD 700, ISD 704, and Community Education policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
