National Honor Society – Middle School

The NJHS Advisor at Stillwater Middle School is responsible for guiding and supporting the chapter in promoting the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship among its members. The advisor will provide leadership, coordination, and oversight to ensure that the NJHS chapter operates in alignment with the national organization’s standards and the school’s mission of fostering academic excellence, strong relationships, and community involvement.

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Chapter Leadership and Administration

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the NJHS chapter.
    • Organize and facilitate NJHS meetings, including planning agendas and guiding discussions.
    • Oversee the chapter’s adherence to NJHS national guidelines, bylaws, and school policies.
    • Maintain accurate records of member eligibility, service hours, and participation.
  2. Membership Selection and Induction

    • Collaborate with the NJHS Faculty Council to establish criteria for membership.
    • Coordinate the application, selection, and notification process for new members.
    • Plan and execute the annual NJHS induction ceremony.
  3. Service and Leadership Opportunities

    • Guide members in developing and implementing meaningful service projects that benefit the school and community.
    • Encourage student leadership by supporting member-driven initiatives and events.
    • Provide mentorship to members in fulfilling their responsibilities and embodying the NJHS core values.
  4. Communication and Collaboration

    • Act as a liaison between NJHS members, school administration, faculty, parents, and the national NJHS office.
    • Communicate regularly with members and families about chapter activities, requirements, and expectations.
    • Collaborate with other school organizations and community partners on joint projects and initiatives.
  5. Support for Students

    • Promote a culture of academic achievement, leadership, and character among members.
    • Support students in balancing their NJHS responsibilities with other academic and extracurricular commitments.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed educator or staff member.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Passion for fostering student growth and engagement in academics, service, and leadership.
  • Experience working with student organizations or extracurricular programs is preferred.

Time Commitment:

  • NJHS activities may require some time outside of regular school hours for meetings, events, and service projects.

The stipend for this position is $4,641 per year
