Examples of Duties:
-
Plans and implements developmentally appropriate learning activities and experiences for parents and their children to engage in academically, socially, and in emotionally appropriate ways.

The Parent Educator researches, interprets, and presents current information of family issues, serves as a resource to parents and provides referral information, as needed.

Teaches and conducts classroom routines.

Leads parent/child interactions.
-
Works with children 1:1 modeling activity based upon child’s age and abilities.

Leads large group and circle time activities with parents and children.
-
Facilitates group interactions and discussions with parents concerning parenting styles, methods, and techniques.

Advises parents concerning other community resources.
-
Offers support, strategies, and resources to support the strengthening of parenting skills and to assist them meet the developmental and emotional needs of their children.

Collects and maintains program paperwork.

Support with outreach This can be done in person or via home visits. Â

Develops a rapport with parents and offers support, behavioral strategies, and resources to promote and facilitate the strengthening of their parenting skills and the developmental and emotional needs of their children. Communicates with parents regarding their child’s development and provides parents with developmentally appropriate activities to take home to facilitate early learning.

Provides materials to parents on a variety of research subjects pertaining to parenting topics to set up a safe and appealing environment in which to learn.

Provides guidance and leads alongside ECFE education assistants in setting up the room for activities, monitoring play and learning activities.

Coordinates and assists in the cleaning of classroom toys, furniture, supplies following health and safety standards.

Assists in outreach activities such as family nights to promote community and academics through various planned activities.

Attends training sessions, conferences, seminars, district and departmental meetings.
-
Keeps abreast of changing developments, trends, instructional and educational technologies.
