STEP Academy is seeking a Middle School Reading/ELA Teacher
STEP Academy is a K-12 charter school located in St. Paul, Minnesota that serves a student body primarily made up of first generation Somali/East African students. As a destination school, STEP Academy ensures all students are nurtured and empowered to use their personal attributes and acquired knowledge to have the choice to participate in early college entry through the Minnesota PSEO program. STEP Academy is dedicated to the growth and development of our entire learning community: students, staff, parents, and administrators.
The Position: Full Time English Language Arts/Reading Teaching Position (Teaching a second ELA period for seventh and eighth graders focused on building strong reading strategies.)
Preferred Qualifications:
5-12 ELA teaching license
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
Experience working with ELL populations
Cultural competence
Minimum Qualifications:
Any teaching license and willingness to obtain an out of area designation
Bachelor's degree, ability to obtain a Tier 1 or 2 teaching license, and willingness to work toward a higher tier teaching license
Experience teaching English Language Arts and/or high school.
Cultural competence
Because we are a college prep school preparing students for college two years before their peers, STEP Academy is particularly interested in applicants who have college or community college teaching experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $42,075.00 – $55,517.00 per year
