Salary Range:

$42,500 – $58,287

Description

Under the supervision of the principal, the Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for creating a learning environment that supports student achievement in all subject areas. Teachers create lesson plans, model exemplary behavior, build relationships, problem solve, and align instruction to state and school standards. Teachers challenge students and explore innovative instructional practices. Teachers partner with Academic Coaches to continually develop their practice. 

 

Successful teachers will possess integrity, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and maintain accountability for their actions. Teachers will align themselves with NMA’s core principles and understand the unique challenges of immigrant and refugee communities.

 

  • Develop highly effective lesson plans that align with NMA’s adopted curriculum.

  • Foster a culture of learning that embraces the strengths of all scholars and empowers them to achieve their academic goals.

  • Implement strategies that produce high levels of learning. 

  • Collaborate with teammates, Academic Coaches, administrators, operations staff, and paraprofessionals. 

  • Proactively engage families in NMA’s academic program. 

  • Administer assessments, maintain accurate records, and use data to make instructional decisions.

  • Identify students for interventions; develop and facilitate effective interventions. 

  • Use curriculum and materials that reflect the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

  • Model the RHINO Way, and teach students the RHINO Way using PBIS strategies.

  • Maintain a growth mindset and a positive attitude. 

  • Engage in professional development and coaching opportunities. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Requirements

  • Degree in Education,  Mathematics or a related field Preferred

  • Current teaching license required

  • Experience in a high-performing, fast-paced environment preferred

Core Math Competencies for Middle School Teachers

  • Content Knowledge: Teachers should demonstrate proficiency in the core math categories (numbers and operations, algebra, geometry and measurement, data analysis and probability, and mathematical processes. 

  • Pedagogical Knowledge: Middle school math teachers must understand:

    • How students learn mathematics at the middle school level.

    • Strategies to engage diverse learners, including those with special needs and/or English language learners.

    • Differentiated instruction and formative assessment techniques.

  • Implement the effective use of technology and tools, such as calculators, Chromebooks, and online learning platforms.
