Job Summary: Big Lake Schools has a  middle school student in need of homebound special education services. The position would require 5 hours of instruction per week outside of your school contract hours. Initially, there would be an opportunity for 7 hours per week to make up for hours missed thus far this school year. The hours can be done one hour per day or in larger sections 2-3 times per week. Under the direction of district administrators, the Homebound Instructor is responsible for developing lesson plans to present district curriculum in assigned instructional subjects; instructing students using lesson plans and instructional material; and evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional outcomes and objectives. Teachers also participate and collaborate with other instructional professionals, administrators, parents, counselors, and other district personnel concerning student needs, issues and district learning initiatives. Student case management (paperwork) is provided by a district special education teacher and not a part of this position. 

Qualifications:  Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Certified teaching certificate from the State of MN in the required subject area. GENERAL EDUCATION TEACHERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY. The distirct will work with general education teachers to obtain an out of field permission to teach special education. 

Working Conditions:  5 hrs per week.  Provide homebound instruction to student in home setting.
