Description
Position Information:
- The Master Electrician is responsible for installing and troubleshooting all lighting, electrical power and equipment including voice, data, and fire/security systems. The Master Electrician monitors and is responsible for all electrical wiring performed within the District.
- Troubleshoots electrical problems within the District. Provides recommendations regarding whether to repair or replace equipment. Plans and responds to electrical emergencies within the District, which includes power outages, hazardous or dangerous equipment requiring immediate attention.
- Maintains electrical lighting systems and fixtures across the district.
- Plans, installs, maintains and/or troubleshoots low voltage systems within the District including data, voice, fire alarm and security systems.
- Interprets and updates electrical panel schedules and building or system blueprints.
- Installs, tests and troubleshoots electrical circuits and equipment using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
- Ensures that all electrical work meets requirements according to the National Electrical and Fire Codes.
- Installs phone and data cables. Plans and lays out new lines and locations.
- Plans and implements electrical primary (high voltage) system additions or modifications.
- Plans and implements electrical secondary (low voltage) system additions or modifications.
- Coordinates electrical projects involving outside contractors.
- Purchases parts and equipment needed to implement repairs and/or installations. Purchases lamps and ballasts for the District. Obtains quotes and bids to assure the best pricing. Researches suppliers to obtain parts and equipment needed.
- Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC systems. Grease motors, change bearings, tighten belts, etc
- Files inspection requests with the State Board. Meet with Electrical Inspectors to go over all new wiring projects within the buildings.
- Performs other duties of a comparable level or type, as required.
Position Qualifications:
- Master Electrician License required
- Completion of formal apprenticeship program and at least three years on-site training and experience under the guidance of a licensed Electrician and one years experience as an Electrical Journeyman is required.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems and components including planning additions or modifications.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting high voltage and low voltage systems (e.g. phone, data, security systems).
- Knowledge of schematics, drawing and blueprints.
- Knowledge of hand, power, and diagnostic tools  applicable to trade.
- Knowledge of all safety precautions applicable to trade.
- Knowledge of all safety, electrical, state, federal and local regulations, codes and laws applicable to this position.
