Shakopee Public Schools is seeking a full-time, year-round Technology Specialist supporting MARRS & Student/Business Information Systems. This position will be responsible for ensuring that data necessary for federal, state, and local initiatives is being handled in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.  

Responsibilities:

  • MARSS & Ed-Fi Reporting:
    • Collect, verify, and edit student data for MARSS and Ed-Fi submissions.
    • Ensure data accuracy by performing edit checks and verifications against open enrollment and other sources.
    • Submit MARSS and Ed-Fi data electronically to MDE and other agencies.
    • Reconcile data errors and troubleshoot discrepancies.
    • Act as a liaison between the district and MDE/Ed-Fi during the reconciliation process.
    • Attend and complete MDE/Infinite Campus training on MARSS and Ed-Fi configuration.
    • Define and maintain MARSS protocols, collaborating with state and district representatives to resolve enrollment data issues.
  • District, State & Federal Reporting:
    • Oversee centralized enrollment and compliance with federal and state reporting requirements (MARSS, Ed-Fi, MCCC, CRDC, DIRS, etc.).
    • Interpret and apply federal and state data accountability and reporting statutes for accurate data submission.
    • Manage the preparation and submission of required reports related to student information.
    • Maintain Minnesota Common Course Catalog (MCCC) data.
    • Manage Office of Civil Rights (OCR) data collection.
    • Advise district leadership on student data reporting requirements.
  • Data Management & Analysis:
    • Enter, retrieve, verify, import, and export data into the district’s student information system (Infinite Campus).
    • Maintain database information and prepare ad-hoc reports.
    • Analyze student data to identify trends and develop reports for various departments.
    • Maintain current knowledge of state laws and rules related to student data reporting.
    • Manage PSEO and CIS enrollment data.
    • Monitor data quality and implement procedures to minimize errors.
  • System Administration & User Support:
    • Train site and district staff on local, state, and federal reporting practices.
    • Serve as a system administrator for online registration, troubleshooting system issues, and supporting users.
    • Collaborate with IT to integrate systems and ensure seamless workflows.
    • Provide access to student data through reporting tools while adhering to privacy and security policies.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Work with the business office to maintain fiscal and business system data.
    • Collaborate with the business office on Skyward account security settings.
    • Creation of staff accounts in Infinite Campus.
    • Maintenance of Infinite Campus School Store, Fee, and other payment transaction modules.
    • Manage centralized enrollment processes (including Infinite Campus On-Line Registration) and work with principals on student attendance and enrollment.
    • Collaborate with the county and business office in maintaining data on residences and school boundaries (Infinite Campus and Frontline Location Analytics). 
    • Maintain student records for the district and assist with internal/external audits.
    • Prepare various student reports, ensuring compliance with legal and board policy requirements.
    • Maintain and update computer files in accordance with record retention guidelines.
    • Respond to MARSS inquiries from school staff.
    • Other duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. A combination of education and related experience will be considered.
  • Microsoft Excel advanced knowledge
  • SQL database novice to intermediate knowledge
  • Infinite Campus advanced knowledge
  • Skyward ERP (HR/Finance) familiarity
  • Two years of directly applicable experience is preferred.

 
Compensation Package:

  • $75,000 to $95,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. While the full range is available, most candidates can expect to fall within the $75,000 to $85,000 range, depending on relevant experience, skills, and education.
