Job Description:  
This position is working with elementary and secondary students with individual needs that meet criteria for special education typically in the area of ASD/DCD and have intense behaviors. This includes small group instruction, 1:1 instruction, and due process requirements.  The special education teacher will collaborate with other service providers during the day to meet student needs.  Students within the program have a high staff to student ratio to implement educational plans and make progress within their individual goals. 

License & Experience:

  • Licensed Special Education Teacher in the State of Minnesota
  • Knowledge and experience working with students with special education needs.
  • Experience working with elementary/secondary students and families

Essential Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience completing due process and follow timeline requirements of special education
  • Experience completing Part B evaluations
  • Must be able to assure and implement state and federal laws, statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to special education
  • Team oriented approach when working with students, colleagues, families, and administrators
  • Effective communication and teaming skills, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community and staff
  • Establishes a culture for learning by supporting the mission, beliefs and the strategic plan of the district
  • Inspires and engages all students in relevant learning
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about students, staff and families
  • Experience working with diverse students and families – experience/training with CLR (Culturally Linguistically Responsive) methods preferred
  • District provided training including Handle With Care and Ukeru
