Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher to join our team in a Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) classroom. This position will support students with moderate to severe cognitive disabilities by providing individualized instruction, fostering a positive learning environment, and collaborating with staff and families.
Location: St. James Middle School High School
Position Type: Long-Term Substitute ASAP until at least December 19, 2024
Hours: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities:

Support and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in alignment with state standards and district goals.

Adapt and differentiate curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.

Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and other team members to ensure consistent student support.

Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and assistive technology to maximize student success.

Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed.

Communicate regularly with families to share student progress and provide updates.
Qualifications:

Valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education, with licensure in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) or equivalent preferred.

Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of behavior management strategies, assistive technology, and differentiated instruction is desirable.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
