Position Overview:

Associate Principal – Nicollet Middle School

Position Summary

  • FTE:  1.0
  • Hours:  8
  • Days: Anticipated start date of late January/Early February 2025 to cover a maternity leave, with the possibility of future employment
  • Per Unit Agreement

 

License / Education Requirements: Valid Minnesota Teaching license preferred. Secondary administrative and teaching experience and Principal license preferred.

 

Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate for the Associate Principal position will provide leadership and build systems to support staff, schools, and the district in increasing appropriate instructional capacity that allows all students to meet or exceed expected growth each year, graduate from high school, and eliminate predictability in achievement through practices of educational equity.  This position will assist the Principal Team in leading the building’s efforts in creating a culturally competent and racially inclusive learning environment so that all students are successful.  The individual will also assist the leadership team in leading the design and implementation of the district’s instructional delivery and professional development in alignment with the district’s operational plan and individual school improvement plans. The individual will also assist the leadership team in leading the design and implementation of the district’s instructional methodology and professional development programs aligned with the district operational plan. Actively support district planning and improvement processes.

  • Assist teachers, parents and students in resolving academic and non-academic student issues in the school.
  • Maintains records of any student disciplinary actions taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and District policies.
  • Confers with parents, teachers, support services personnel and students on matters of discipline and problem solving.
  • Provides mentoring services to students and consultation services to parents.
  • Supervises staff and classroom observations/evaluations; including pre & postobservation conferences,
    growth plans, etc.; organizes/administers inservice teacher training.
  • Gives individual and group guidance for personal problems, educational and vocational objectives, and
    social and recreational activities.
  • Responsible for daily supervision of students including attendance at assemblies and athletic events;
    monitors atrisk students.
  • Arranges for and oversees substitute teachers.
  • Works with administrators to coordinate and supervise student teachers program.

Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Travel Requirements
Travel to school district buildings as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline, bullying, sexual harassment, etc.
  • Knowledge of student behavior management techniques.
  • Knowledge of dispute resolution techniques and ability to engage in dispute resolution.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally an in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Qualifications:
License / Education Requirements:

  • Valid Minnesota Teaching license preferred. Secondary administrative and teaching experience and Principal license preferred.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.

Experience

  • Successful experience working with children at risk.
  • Successful experience developing and implementing professional development programs relating to non-academic student behavioral issues preferred.
