SUMMARY:
Long Term Substitute, West Middle School Counselor.
Provides services in student, staff, parent and group counseling, new grade orientation, new student registration, pre-referral activities for special needs students, standardized testing, crisis management, career development, contact with courts and outside agencies, liaison with academic teams, job placement, and school record maintenance.

• Plan and facilitate an effective educational learning environment to meet the needs of a diverse community of learners.
• Develop and maintain a program to meet the individual needs of each student as we work on state standards.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Work as a collaborative staff member in planning instructional goals and objectives.
• Evaluate and assess student learning on a regular basis for the purpose of adjusting instruction and measuring student learning.
• Teach and model the district’s expectations for ethical behavior in alignment with the Hopkins District Strategic Plan and Vision 2031.
• Effectively communicate with students, parents, staff and community members.

Qualifications

  • Minnesota Secondary or Elementary Counseling/Guidance Licensure.
  • Preparation and commitment to working effectively with diverse communities of learners; skill in providing for the individual learning needs of students; ability to create positive, inclusive learning environment; skill in using positive, constructive disciplinary approaches; ability to organize and plan for student learning; familiarity with current teaching/ learning theories; skill in establishing and maintaining positive relationships with diverse groups of students parents, and colleagues; diversity of interests and experiences. 

Compensation and Schedule:

0.5 FTE M-F, 20 hours weekly: 51 days total.
Salary: $45,627 to be prorated for the term.Â
