Position:  LMC Library Paraeducator
Work Schedule:  Monday thru Friday, 3.0 hrs/day 
Start Date:  September 3, 2024
Pay:  $23.19/hour per the paraeducator labor agreement

Required Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must possess and display excellent human relations skills when dealing with staff,¬†students, and¬†community.¬†
  • Ability to effectively present¬†information¬†in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to get along with other people and have patience in dealing with parents¬†and¬†students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to operate computer and related equipment.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of applicable district requirements and Board of Education policies.¬†¬†

Responsibilities:

  • Assist students and teachers to locate and obtain information, materials and equipment from the IMC and from outside agencies.¬† Make recommendations on appropriate materials and resources.¬† Assist students with library skills; instruct students in the use of equipment.
  • Operate computerized library system which includes printing bar codes on materials, printing library cards and keeping inventory up to date including overdo lists and supervises the circulation component (check-out, return, overdue materials).
  • Maintain the periodical collection.¬† Process new books, computer software, and audio/visual materials; shelve new materials and books.
  • Supervise student behavior in the library and halls; check student passes; issue appropriate consequences for misbehavior.
  • Train volunteers and others in shelving of books and use of computer system and procedures.
  • Produce video recordings of school events as directed; schedule, deliver and set up AV equipment in classrooms and meeting rooms.
  • Perform simple AV maintenance and repairs.
  • Process orders for films, videos or other resources on various media.
  • Perform general clerical functions in support of the media center.
  • Monitor book inventory; provide for repair and purging of books; process orders for new books.
  • Other duties as necessary or assigned.
