East Grand Forks School District is seeking applicants for a Licensed School Social Worker. 

East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 8,500 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district’s K-12 enrollment is approximately 1950 students as well as a thriving preschool program. The district has four separate school buildings housing grades PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Licensed School Social Worker to join our team at ISD #595. The licensed school social worker will be given the great responsibility of continuing our long-standing commitment to academic excellence through social and emotional support.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a positive learning environment, committed to providing students the support needed to face day to day challenges and work with teachers to develop behavior plans.
 
Basic Function of the Position:
The ideal candidate will serve as a vital link between students, families, schools, and the broader community to address barriers to learning and promote students’ academic, social, and emotional success. They will provide counseling, crisis intervention, and support services for students facing challenges such as mental health issues, family dynamics, and behavioral concerns. Additionally, they will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and external agencies to develop individualized plans, advocate for student needs, and connect families with community resources. By fostering a safe and inclusive school environment, the licensed school social worker will play a key role in ensuring all students can thrive academically and personally.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Assess students’ social, emotional and behavioral needs; provide counseling and develop interventions.
  • Advocacy: Be an advocate for students’ rights and well-being.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide support to students in crisis; create safety plans and refer students to outside services when necessary.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with fellow teachers, staff, and administration to develop support strategies; assist in developing individual education plans.
  • Family and Community Engagement: Serve as a liaison between school, family and community resources.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of service provided to students and families, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

 
Reporting Relationship:
The Licensed School Social Worker reports directly to the Building Principal.
 
Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Licensure: MN Board of Social Work License-MDE School Social Work License
  • Experience: Prior experience supporting school-aged children is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Familiarity with community resources and systems serving families.

 Terms:

  • Salary Range: $44,518-$82,959
  • Benefits:
    The licensed school social work will belong to the Teacher Master Agreement. Benefits include contributions to health, dental, and life insurance plans, with the district covering a portion of premiums. Full-time eligible teachers can access the district’s Group Health Plan and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) if enrolled in a high-deductible health plan, with contributions up to $968.57/month in 2024-25. If eligible, the school district contribution toward dental insurance is $59.14/month for the 2024-25 school year, and the contribution toward life insurance is $20.69/month for the same period. Sick leave accrues at 12 days annually, with up to 48 hours designated as Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST). Unused sick leave is unlimited, while ESST accrues up to 20 days. Additionally, teachers have access to bereavement, jury, military, and unpaid childcare leave along with a matched 403(b) plan and professional development opportunities.
