Salary/Hourly Rate: Paraprofessional Class VI: $20.70 or above depending on qualifications
Hours of Work: 7 hrs/day; 35 hrs/week; 173 days/yr
Provides students with intervention and extension opportunities primarily in math; supports full-classroom and small group learning experiences; monitors student progress

  • Works with the whole class, small group, or pull out groups under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Reinforces the instructional plan laid out by the classroom teacher/instructional coach.
  • Provides instructional assistance in the area of math within the classroom or office setting
  • Facilitates and delivers practice activities designed to enrich and extend learning.
  • Assists teachers with classroom activities; leads breakout sessions/stations.
  • Collaborates with students to create a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Monitors and reports progress of individual students to teacher/instructional coach.
  • Supports adaptations in the learning environment based on observation of student performance and engagement.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.

Education and Experience:

  • Two (2) years post-secondary education OR a passing ParaPro Score.
  • Two (2) years of curriculum support experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

Required Knowledge:

  • District policies and procedures.
  • Applicable policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
  • Classroom policies, procedures and processes.
  • Methods and techniques to assist students in mathematics.
  • Methods and techniques for working with students with disabilities and special needs.
  • Local community resources and regional community services programs. 
  • Computer applications related to the work.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
