QUALIFICATIONS:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Â High school diploma or general education development certificate (GED), required.
- Valid MN driver’s license.
- Technical school certification in trades, preferred; equivalent trades experience required.
- Possesses, or has the ability to obtain within 2 years, a MN Dept of Labor 1st Class Boiler License.
- Possesses, or has the ability to obtain within 9 months, a Pool Operator Certification (Middle School only).
- Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in HVAC, building and boiler maintenance, building automation systems, and energy management systems.
- Five years of supervisory experience in a public or commercial setting.
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force.
- Experience with personal computers and software and the ability to learn district systems.
- Ability to work outside in extreme conditions.
- Demonstrated customer and human relations skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.Â

JOB GOALS:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â To maintain the exterior of district facilities, fields, and grounds in a condition of operating excellence, operating efficiency, cleanliness, and safety so that full educational and recreational use of the facilities may be made at all times.Â

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs the essential functions of a custodian.
2. Supervises, trains, assigns, oversees and inspects the work of the custodial staff.
3. Schedules and monitors the hours worked by building custodial staff.
4. Completes annual performance evaluations for custodial staff.
5. Submits and completes online work requests in a timely and complete manner.
6. Assists in maintenance checks and service on building systems.Â
7. Oversees and confirms that all building systems are operational to maximum efficiency.
8. Conducts inspections of all building life safety systems; repairs or requests outside services as needed.
9. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, recycling, and hazardous waste.
10. Complies with health and safety codes, to include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards to ensure safe and healthy working conditions.
11. Ensures that required pool testing is completed and that records are maintained. (Middle School only.)
12. Assist in coordinating activities with the custodial staff, facility scheduler, principal, outside maintenance, and general building staff.
13. Maintains an inventory of work supplies and equipment.
14. Conducts snow removal in coordination with the Outside Maintenance staff.
15. Present during and after school hours for authorized scheduled activities as needed.
16. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
