Kids Company Program Leader
Position Purpose
Under the coordination of the Kids Company Site Leader, the Kids Company Program Leader is responsible for assisting in the scheduling and implementation of daily activities of the Kids Company program at a school building site in addition to performing all duties required of Kids Company Assistants in the department’s before and after school programs, summer programs and Preschool Wrap-Around Care programs.
Essential Functions
- Assumes full responsibility of the program in the absence of the Site Leader.
- Assists and directs the daily operation of the site.
- Assists and directs the supervision of children involved in the program.
- Provides daily, independent supervision, interaction, and behavior management of a group of children.
- Ensures a welcoming, child-centered, developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Maintains accurate record keeping and data entry of program attendances, parent accounts, field trips/events, etc.
- Assists in the planning of the daily curriculum by creating weekly and/or monthly craft and group game plans.
- Assists the preparation of materials and leads the daily curriculum as reflected on the monthly calendar.
- Work cooperatively with all Kids Company staff to plan, implement, and evaluate program activities.
- Communicate daily with staff regarding special concerns, observations of children, upcoming events, and other pertinent information.
- Guide and provide (be a leader and take initiative) direction to Program Aides and Assistants.
- Keep Coordinator and/or Director informed of any accidents or unusual situations involving the children.
- Make adjustments to staffing numbers to the best of your discretion based on the number of children in attendance.
- Communicate daily with parents regarding special concerns, observations of their children, noting positive behaviors as much as possible, upcoming events, and other pertinent information.
- Attend all staff meetings and training programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

May use standard office equipment such as personal computer, copy machine, and telephone.Â
Travel Requirements
Travel between district buildings and within the community may be required depending on schedule/site assignment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of assigned program operational policies and procedures.
- General fundamentals of child development stages, parenting and age appropriate behaviors/needs.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and general sanitation issues.
- Basic behavioral strategies.
- Ability to learn, follow, and apply department activities, childcare procedures and routines of Kids Company.
- Skilled in applying judgment and care in supervising, monitoring and providing for the care of children of various ages.
- Informing and advising site personnel or problems or issues concerning safety or behavioral incidents that require the attention of site personnel.
- Skilled in providing age appropriate activities that will provide the child with activities to stimulate their creativity, imagination, communication skills, or ability to interact with others.
- Ability to read, analyze and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos.
- Public and client centered skills that require tact, courtesy, and cooperation when dealing with parents, staff, and children primarily for the purposes of providing and exchanging information.
- Ability to effectively interact and supervise children in various structured and unstructured activities.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Employee is continuously required to talk, hear, and walk; frequently reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; occasionally sits, uses hands/fingers dexterously; and/or climbs in the performance of the job. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Â
Qualifications Profile
- Employees must be 18+ years of age and have some prior child care experience and/or evidence of equivalent education and experience necessary to perform the requirements of the work. May be required to be certified in First Aid and CPR upon hire or within six (6) months of employment.
Salary and Benefits
Per AESP Master Agreement – Classification IV
Starting Wage: $15.61-$18.47, depending on experience and qualifications
Schedule
Program Hours
   Before School – 6:45-8:00 am
   After School – 3:00-5:30 pm
   Non-School Days – 6:45 am – 5:30 pm
   Early Dismissal Days – 12:00 – 5:30 pm
